About MaKenna
MaKenna Doherty is a lifelong booklover. Growing up, she collected books and found them to be a productive way to learn, grow, and connect with others. She got her first job as an intern at Macmillan’s Tor Books in New York City and later worked at Blue River Press in Indianapolis. After graduating from Purdue University with a degree in communications, she spent the next three years teaching English to children in Japan.
While living there, MaKenna found her passion for helping young learners grow, and this inspired her to write. Her stories share critical life lessons and encourage others to never give up.
About the Characters
Bird
Bird is an Indian Blue Robin. Her favorite foods are fruits, berries, and seeds. She can typically be found hiking mountains and practicing her flying from tree to tree. Still new to this whole “flying” thing, sometimes Bird gets stuck in bushes, but she never lets that stop her from trying new things.
Worm
Worm is an Earthworm who spends his days tending to the land. His favorite foods are leaves, roots, and other earthy treats. Worm enjoys spending time in his home, curled up with a nice book under the shade of flowers and mushrooms. He is curious about the world around him, but is still learning how to explore safely.
Snail
Snail is a garden snail. He loves to munch on the fresh vegetables from Worm’s garden, and watch the clouds pass on a warm breezy day. Snail also enjoys spending his days exploring the world around him, though he still has much to see as he isn’t very speedy.
